nunsense in scarborough ... 24 - 25 march 06
this weekend i went to scarborough with the Nunsense II crew....this play i've been in accompanying. there was a NODA conference and we had to put on a show for them on friday night and saturday night. i went with the band: Ian, Nikki (Ian's wife) Steven and Rick. cool people *thumbs up*. accomodation was provided. we stayed at the scarborough travel lodge or something along those lines. it was a bit much because...........since i was the only female in the band, i got a whole room to myself. but not only did i get just a whole normal room to myself........i got a whole friggin family room to myself. i had a choice of 3 beds to sleep in. OH DEAR!!!

OR

there's the other corner of the room

very nice bathroom.......

me being super satisfied and excited

that was the view of scarborough from my window

so we had our first show friday night.............driving from leeds to scarborough took almost 2 hours. and we left about an hour and a half after we were supposed to because Rick got stuck in accident traffic on the highway. THEREEFOREEE we got to scarborough late and had no time to relax or even eat, cuz we had to set up the stage and run the show with all the cuts......by the time we finished running it, we had about 20 minutes to eat. but there was no food in that place. so we had chocolate bars and crisps from the vending machine.......and a drink from the bar. BOOOOOOOoo...i dont think the cast got to eat either
but the show went well.
even with empty concaving stomachs
so we went back to our hotel and desperately tried to find some food.......but everything was closed. we finally got hold of a fast food number and ordered some margharitta pizzas.......and stuffed our faces at 1:30am. got to bed around 2:30am. check out time was 10:30am the next morning. breakfast was at 9am. not very much sleep. breakfast was ok. a bit over priced. but meh
the show on saturday night was at 7:30. so we had 9 hours to kill. ....... ... ....
scarborough has a GreAATTT view. there's a broken down castle in the distance

thats steven, nikki and rick by the sea

i wouldn't really want to live in scarborough though, because all they have are bowling alleys, arcades, fish and chips, and hotels, and cafes, some bars. meh.
donkey rides: 2 pounds

so to kill time, we did some wandering and shopping in the city centre for about an hour. then ian, rick and nikki wanted to find a sports bar to watch the football game. me and steven wanted to see a film. so we separated........and walked around scarborough to find a cinema. we walked all the way north to Holleywood Cinema, but it was downright rubbish. but since we were all the way north, we decided to look at north bay. it was a pretty far walk. thats the view of the broken down castle all the way from the other side

thats steven and me doing some poses by north bay

we decided to walk across the hillies and do some exploring around the castle

but it turned out we had to pay to get inside to see it. so we walked back to find another cinema (and a loo).
btw it was a BOOTIFUL day........perfect spring weather.
soooooooo we came across this building that had huge letters saying CINEMA and below it said THEATRE. so we went to take a look.......BUTT it turned out it USED to be a cinema and was just a theatre now.
SO THEN we walked all the way back to where we came from (the beach) because we saw a cinema/theatre there on the way out. but that place only showed 2 movies and they only showed at noon. i don't think scarborough people watch films too much. . .... ....which was very disappointing. because we still had about 4 or 5 more hours to kill.
SO thennnnnnn we met up with ian and nikki and rick at the bar to where the football game was being played and watched for a bit. it was nice to sit. we probably walked at least 7 or 8 miles. JEEZUZ.
we then walked nikki back to the train station cuz she had to go somewhere........and then got some fish n chips for dinner (at 4:30pm) and then went back to the theatre to relax before doing the show.
thats the set (ish):

those are the theatre seats:

yes, quite a privledge.
and thats the Nunsense II band:
Sister Kathleen, Brother Rick, Rabbi Sapiro (because he's not catholic), and Brother Steven

the show went well.
THE END
